History of ORSA
In November 1994, several local soccer players and their families were interested in finding a way to provide opportunities for young men and women in Venango County to participate in organized play. This group of parents founded the Franklin Soccer Club, entirely self-funded. That first year, a small team traveled to games in Akron, Pittsburgh, and Maryland to play in tournaments. The group raised money for soccer balls and uniforms.
By 1995, the club had officially reorganized as the Oil Region Soccer Association (ORSA) and joined the PA West Youth Soccer Association Travel Districts, laying the foundation for decades of growth. Since then, ORSA has offered team play across seasons and age groups, continuing to operate as a proud 501(c)(3) nonprofit, powered by volunteers, families, and a love for the game.
As we move into the future, our commitment is stronger than ever. ORSA is focused on:
-
Expanding access to soccer for all youth.
-
Increasing our presence within PA West and regional leagues.
-
Investing in equipment, coaching, and safe play spaces.
-
Building a long-term home for soccer in this place we call home, better known as the Oil Region.
Above all, ORSA’s mission is rooted in community, passion, and the growth of safe, healthy, and fun resources for youth in Venango County. Whether on the field, in the stands, or behind the scenes—we’re building something that lasts. For today’s players, and tomorrow’s champions.
