U19 ORSA vs Penncrest 4/13/14

posted Apr 14, 2014, 10:04 PM by Thomas Pfennigwerth
The Oil Region U-19 won 2-Nil on the road to Penncrest. The Force got off to a slow start largely due to unseasonably warm weather. Although enjoying the Lions share of possession, Oil Region went in to half time with a Nil-Nil draw. Ted Richards, Kayla Hare, Ty Mooney, Nick Varsek, & Trent Zdarko all had scoring chances but the windy weather and rough field conditions slowed the potent Force attack.
Oil Region began to gain control of the match though the hard work of the midfield, Tim Swartzfager, Sam Wilson, & Varsek. The Force took the lead midway in the 2nd half when Kayla Hare struck from close range. Hare pounced on a rebounded shot, from Swartzfager, for the goal. The goal was the first ever by Hare. With 10 minutes to play Josh Seyler closed out the scoring when he chipped the ball over the onrushing keeper. He was played in a one on one with the keeper with a lovely pass from Richards.
Andrew Grossi was rarely tested in goal, but was up to the task when call upon. Marcus Tress, Gideon Coleman, Colt Byers contained the Penncrest forwards and often started the attack. The Force will host Grove City on April 27th.
