The Oil Region Force returned to their winning ways on Sunday as the defeated
Conneaut Lake 4-1. The Force took the opening kick off and completely over ran
the Conneaut Lake for the first 15 minutes of the match. For all their hard
work and possession, Oil Region could not find the back of the net. After a
save the CL Keeper, punted a long pass to their on rushing striker who scored
with their first possession of the match. Oil Region was shaken but was able
to regain their composure as they began to take control of the match by winning
tackles, pushing forward, controlling the pace to the game. Midfielder Logan
Mooney knotted the score at 1 when he took the ball run through the
defense, sending a lovely chip shot over the keeper into the back of the
net. The Force 19's had several more attempts on goal yet took the
1-1 tie into half-time. The 2nd half began much like the first with Oil Region controlling play but unable to find the back of goal until Ty Mooney struck from short distance from a pass from his brother, Logan. The younger Mooney found net again a few minutes later to put the Force up 3-1. A Ted Richards headed goal rounded out the scoring. Tanner Coxson and the Force defense was outstanding on the day as was midfield substitute Nate Morrison. Morrison gave the Force a spark at several important moments in the match. |
