ORSA Ritchey vs Meadville Black - 06/08/14

U10 ORSA - Ritchey gave up a tough loss 6-2 to league champions Meadville - Black.  Meadville scored first to take a 1-0 lead.  ORSA equalized soon after with a goal by Gage Haniwalt assisted by Quinn Ritchey.  Dustin McMullen made several tough saves in the first half and was under pressure for the entire game.  With the linesman not calling offsides McMullen was put in several one on one situations and made several huge saves but before half Meadville Black managed to get one by and take the lead 2-1.  In the second half Meadville Black showed why they were top of the league with a huge offensive push that ended with 4 additional goals.  Despite the goals keeper Dustin McMullen had his best game at that postion making diving safes, staying tough and making saves while the Meadville players crashed into him.  ORSA Ritchey was not without chances but the Meadville defense was up to the task each time.  In the last minute of the game Josh Hachryl took off in a 2 on 1 break and took a shot to the far top corner of the goal beating the keeper to finish the scoring in the game and leaving a final score of 6-2.  Hachryl, Rylee Reed, Keegan Shreffler, and Caleb Griffin all played well on each side of the field, while Gage Haniwalt was a terror on the offensive end but just couldn't get through the tough physical defense of Meadville.  It was a great year for U10 ORSA - Ritchey.  They game a long way as a team from the first game when they didn't even know each others names to becoming teammates, friends, and better soccer players.  Each player on the team has improved dramatically over the season and it will be exciting to watch their skills and knowledge of the game improve over time.
