ORSA U-10  Kerr defeated Meadville Black on Sunday, September 28, 2014.  The final score was 5 – 1 with goals by Gage Haniwalt, Quinn Ritchey, and Brady Umbenhaur.

ORSA Kerr came out on the winning end of their soccer match against Meadville Black this past Sunday. The first half was dominated by the ORSA team.  The first two goals were scored by the combination of Haniwalt and Nathan Pfennigwerth with Haniwalt putting the ball home twice off of two crisply centered assist passes.  The third goal of the half was scored by Quinn Ritchey unassisted on a steal followed by a drive up the middle of the Meadville defense straight to the net. The half ended with Kerr's team up 3–0.  Solid defense was provided by Ben Yard, Caleb Prettyman and Johnathan Leccia turning away the few shots on goal that he faced.

The second half opened with a goal by Brady Umbenhaur assisted by Quinn Ritchey along with a flurry of shots put on goal by Ethan Umbenhaur, Caleb Prettyman and Carson Kerr.  The Umbenhaur boys used their "Wonder Twin Powers" to aggressively push the ball upfield, each seeming to know where the  other was going to be.  Meadville was able to punch one goal into the back of the net in a moment of weakness by the ORSA defense.  In the second half, Leccia gave way to Koben Parry who kept the slate clear from that point forward.  The aggressive defensive play of Pfennigwerth and Haniwalt kept their goalkeeper's jersey clean followed by several precisely played through balls into the offensive end. The final tally was obtained through an “own goal” that was scored by the other teams goalie. A hard shot by Quinn Ritchey was stopped by the goalkeeper but then dropped to the ground and accidentally kicked into the goal.  Through no lack of effort, Johnathan Leccia, Caleb Prettyman and Carson Kerr each had multiple shots that fell just wide of the goal or were soundly stopped by the opposing goaltender.

ORSA Kerr looks to extend their winning streak next week with an away game against Clarion white.

The ORSA Force Kerr team battled both the elements and Meadville Red on Sunday, September 21 and came out on top with a 9–3 win.  Led by hat tricks from both Quinn Ritchey and Gage Haniwalt, the team came together as a unit and is starting to bond on the field.

The scoring started with an unassisted goal by Quinn Ritchey that was placed just out of the reach of the opposing goalkeeper. ORSA scored again with Ethan Umbenhaur getting his first goal on the season by zipping past the Meadville defense, after receiving an assist off of the throw in by Nathan Pfennigwerth. Meadville answered with a goal of their own.  Not to be outdone; Quinn Ritchey scored his second goal off of a beautifully placed pass through the Meadville defense off of the foot of Caleb Prettyman.  Meadville again answered with a goal of their own. Pfennigwerth found the back of the net on a direct kick and then assisted Gage Haniwalt off of another throw in. Haniwalt smoked the ball past the Meadville goalkeeper ending the first half with the force in the lead 5 – 2.

The second half opened with Meadville scoring their last goal of the game, with the rest of the scoring done by the Force.  Gage Haniwalt found the back of the net twice capping off his hat trick with an assist by Pfennigwerth and Ben Yard placing a ball like a laser through the Meadville defense with Haniwalt finishing the scoring opportunity. Quinn Ritchey found the back of the net to finish his hat trick off of a direct kick, following a yellow card issued to a Meadville player. After many attempts throughout the game that ended just off the mark, Caleb Prettyman, through aggressive and tenacious determination, capitalized by putting the ball in the back of the net for his first ORSA goal of the season.  Carson Kerr, playing through injury, found himself with multiple offensive opportunities but was unable to capitalize on them due to the swarming Meadville defense.

The ORSA defense was once again anchored by the gritty play of Ben Yard who turned away many scoring opportunities by the opposition.  Johnathan Leccia turned in another hard-nosed performance denying many opportunities for the Meadville Red team.  Leccia gave way to Koben Parry in the second half after an injury and Parry proved that he was up to the task. Finding himself all alone facing an attacking Meadville striker, Parry aggressively attacked, kicked the ball up to his own offensive players and thwarted the offensive push by Meadville.

The scoring was started by the Greenville team with a charging goal that was put past a diving attempt by goalie Johnathan Leccia. The score was quickly evened up on a breakaway goal from midfielder Nathan Pfennigwerth. Greenville continued to push hard but with the combined defensive effort of Ben Yard, Caleb Prettyman and Brady Umbenhaur, all of the attacks were thwarted and those that were on goal were spectacularly saved by Johnathan Leccia.  The scoring continued for ORSA as they continued to build upon their teamwork with Gage Haniwalt finding the back of the net twice on assists by Quinn Ritchey and Pfennigwerth.  ORSA had multiple scoring opportunities spearheaded by Caleb Prettyman, Carson Kerr and Ethan Umbenhaur that fell short due to the aggressive play and tightening up of the Greenville defense.  The game ended at 3-1, after a flurry of offensive pushes by the Greenville team in an attempt to tie up the game.  The entire ORSA Kerr team fell back at various points to help on defense & secure the win.  ORSA Kerr is 1-0-1 on the season and looks forward to a challenge by the Meadville Red team next Sunday.
